Rock 365 : Day 17 : Limestone Erratic #365photos

Day 17 : Continuing the glacial erratics in the back garden theme from yesterday, this is a limestone erratic block.  As with yesterday, the block is quite angular with faceted sides indicating ice, rather than watertransport.  Although there is a small outcrop of Carboniferous Limestone only 15 km away to the north from here, the meltwater channel in which I live drained an ice sheet that came from the northwest and the most likely origin for this block is the Lake District about 200 km away.
