Day 141 : This is the plagioclase mineral labradorite. The intense blue is labradorescence or a consequence of the schiller effect, light refracting from lamellar intergrowths. Locality unknown. Keele collection.

Day 135 : Out in the field this weekend looking at the glaciology of Snowdonia, North Wales. These are glacial striations on rock on the shore of Llyn Llydaw on the east side of Snowdon. The striations show at least two directions of ice movement.
Day 136 : Second day in North Wales looking at glaciation effects. This is the Quaternary section at Glanllynnau, near Criccieth, North Wales. The sections shows a mud dominated lower till, fluvioglacial sands and gravels and a sand dominated upper till.
