Day 39 : Another of Staffordshire's limestones used as a building stone is the Milldale Limestone.  This is the deeper water equivalent of Derbyshire's Woo Dale Limestone.  Being deeper water it is greyer in colour and contains bioclastic fragments including crinoid stems washed down from the shelf area. This unit sits below yesterday's Ecton Limestone.
