Rock 366 : Day 131 : Collyweston Slate
Day 131 : The Collyweston Slate is not actually a slate but a sandy limestone, but is split into thin beds and used locally as a roofing material, hence the name. Formally, it is the Jurassic (Bajocian) Lower Lincolnshire Limestone Member of the Lincolnshire Limestone Formation. From Collyweston, Northamptonshire, England. Keele collection.
