Rock 365 : Day 218 : Low Main Post Sandstone

Day 218 : Staying in Durham Castle. Here is one of the sandstone
blocks in a wall showing classic cross-bedding. Almost certainly this
is the local Coal Measures sandstone that was extensively quarried on
the crest on the incised meander loop on which the castle and
cathedral now stand, the Low Main Post Sandstone.
