Rock 365 : Day 24 : Triassic Breccia #365photos

Day 24 : This breccia is a very immature sediment, with very poor
sorting of clast sizes, angular fragments and the wide variety of
clast types including limestones, sandstones and siltstone .  It is
from the Triassic of the Spanish Pyrenees and probably represents an
alluvial fan deposit in a rifting half-graben.  Some of the clasts
show ‘bearding’ where extension has opened up gaps at the margins of
the clasts that has been infilled with a quartz overgrowth. Location:
Between Candanchú and Canfranc Estación in Aragon.
