Day 271 : Probably an interesting case of misidentification. I found this in the fine-grained acid igneous part of the Keele collection with the label "fragment filled felsite, Wooley". Day 269 : This is Alton Stone aka Hollington Fm aka Lower Keuper Sandstone aka Bromsgrove Sandstone Fm. Who says British stratigraphy isn't confusing? This exposure is from the top of Toot Hill, opposite Alton Towers, Staffordshire. The white spots are barite crystals.

Day 264 : Another meeting in at London, this time at the Geological Society. On the way in from Bankside I grabed this iPhone shot of the granite facing of Ludgate House on Blackfriars Road.
Day 263 : Down in London for a meeting at the Royal Astronomical Society so have to resort to the iPhone. Here is a nice phenocrystic granite from the front of a jeweler's shop at the Piccadilly end of Old Bond Street.
